Our former Dame Commander, Cynthia Rumboll, will receive her MBE today at Buckingham Palace

Tuesday 25th April 2017

Our former Dame Commander of St John Ambulance, Jersey, Cynthia Rumboll was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s New Year Honours List for her service to the charity over more than three decades.

Cynthia will receive her award at Buckingham Palace today (Tuesday 25th April 2017).

Cynthia was Chairman of St John Ambulance, Jersey for some 10 years, in addition to holding other wide ranging senior appointments spanning 30 years of service with the charity. Of special note is the stra...tegic role she played during Jersey’s transition from a ‘County’ of St John Ambulance, UK to becoming an independent Commandery in 2012, with its own separate legal and operational status.

Cynthia has been a formidable fundraiser and has personally been responsible for obtaining sponsorship and other funds for many of the major community projects and initiatives the charity has developed, including raising £90,000 for each of two state of the art ambulances.

Cynthia described the recognition as a ‘great honour’ but stressed it was not just an award for her, but for the whole of St John Ambulance.
