EMERGENCY FIRST AID AT WORK (EFAW)

The HSE regulations allow smaller organisations, and those with clearly low risk working environments, to have first aiders trained in ‘emergency procedures’ only. You will need a basic command of English to attend this course.

Course content

This narrower syllabus can be coached in just one day, and you will still meet your regulatory requirements. Covers first aid procedures for adult casualties only.

  • The role of the first aider
  • Communication and casualty care
  • Basic defibrillator awareness
  • Bleeding minor & severe
  • Choking - adult
  • Minor burns
  • Resuscitation -adult
  • Seizures
  • Shock
  • Unresponsive casualty
  • Chest pains

Course duration
1 day course 9am - 4pm

What you get on this course
A pack containing everything you need for training, pen, note pad, training bandage, resuscitation aid and a first aid manual.

Assessment:
Written assessment and continuous observation by the trainer.

Certification
Successful candidates receive a St John Ambulance Emergency First Aid At Work certificate, valid for three years.

Associate Membership Insurance. We provide ‘Good Samaritan’ Insurance cover free of charge when the certificate is awarded.
