Our youth programmes enable young people to learn first aid and gain important life skills.
What you will be doing?
As a fully trained Youth Leader you will support young people in the unit directly (Badgers or Cadets) by organising and delivering games, activities, and sessions as part of the relevant youth programmes. You will also be responsible for the supervision and support of other adult volunteers within your youth team.
What you will be doing?
Youth Helpers work flexibly as part of our volunteer youth teams and are advised to liaise directly with their
Youth Leader to design the scope of their role and allocate their responsibilities within the unit. For instance, Youth Helpers may be involved in helping to facilitate and run games, activities and sessions within our Badger Setts and Cadet Units. This may include supporting our young people directly or participating in administration and support tasks to ensure the efficient running of the unit.
As a first aider at events, you will be part of the team that saves lives. This volunteer role can see you at most of the island’s events which are held throughout the year. In addition you may be called upon to assist the States of Jersey in the response to a major incident.
You do not need previous first aid experience to become an operational volunteer as we will give you all the training you need. You'll also have the opportunity to develop your skills to become an Advanced First Aider and to apply for specialist posts such as communications, logistics or vehicle guardian. You may also wish to develop your supervisory and managerial skills to become a Unit Leader.
